Wagner College Athletics

A long-time coach, supporter and contributor to the Wagner College athletic community, the late John “Bunny” Barbes coached in a number of capacities on Grymes Hill for 22 years. Barbes’ association with the school began in 1946 when his coaching career began and lasted until 1967. During that time he served as the head coach from 1954-56 and was also a professor in the Wagner College Physical Education Department. Following his coaching career, Barbes served Wagner College’s Alumni Director for 14 years before retiring.
