One of the top basketball players in the history of Wagner, Fred Klittich (1961-1964) earned All-Metropolitan honors and Team MVP accolades in 1963 and 1964. A three-year letterwinner, he helped the Seahawks to a 46-26 record and scored 1,404 points, which at the time were the third-most in school history. Playing for the legendary Herb Sutter, Klittich earned First Team All-Northern Division Middle Atlantic Conference honors in 1964.
Also a star on the soccer field, he was a three-time captain for the Seahawks and the team MVP as a senior. As a result, Klittich was the recipient of the Holter Award in 1964 as the outstanding senior student-athlete.
