Dr. Fred Blackwell (1956-1960) as co-captain of the 1959-60 team and helped lead the Seahawks to a 16-8 record and a perfect 10-0 record in the Middle Atlantic Conference that season. A forward, Blackwell played all four years for the legendary Herb Sutter and was the winner of the 1959 Delta Nu Roger Ling Team MVP Award.
A freshman on the 1956-1957 team that played against Manhattan in Wagner’s first-ever game at Madison Square Garden. He helped the Seahawks to an 18-9 record his sophomore year of 1957-58. He is currently ranked sixth in school history with 10.7 rebounds per game and ninth with 780 total rebounds. Following graduation, Blackwell embarked on an esteemed career as an orthopedic surgeon. He attended Howard University Medical School and graduated as a ranking member of his class.
