Dedrick Dye was the starting point guard, co-captain and a First-Team All-Northeast Conference (NEC) performer for the 2002-03 Seahawks. Under head coach Dereck Whittenburg, the 2002-2003 NEC champions remain the only men's basketball team in Wagner history to win the NEC Tournament Championship and earn an NCAA Tournament bid. The Clinton, TN native made his presence felt early in his Seahawk career, earning a spot on the NEC All-Rookie Team in 1999-2000. The ultimate playmaker, Dye developed into a First-Team All-NEC performer as a senior in 2002-2003. A dynamic and charismatic leader, Dye's name is etched throughout the Seahawk career season and single-game record books. On the Wagner all-time career record list, the 6-0 guard ranks among the top five in steals (221, 2nd), three-point field goals made (270,  2nd), three-point field goal attempts (670, 2nd), three-point field goal percentage (.403, T-5th), games played (117, T-8th), and is 16th with 1,349 career points. On the Seahawks' all-time single-season list, he ranks among the top top 10 in three-point field goal attempts (217, 4th; 2002-2003), three-point field goal percentage (.442, 5th; 2002-2003) and steals (63, 7th; 2000-2001). His eight steals also tie for first on the single-game record list, while his seven made three-point attempts, which he accomplished three times, tie for third all time. Dye, who guided that 2002-03 NEC title team to a 21-11 record, which followed a 19-10 mark in 2001-02, ranks 10th all-time in NEC history with his 270 made three-pointers. Following that stellar campaign, Dye was chosen to to the Verizon Academic All-America Basketball Team. The 2001 and 2002 NEC Student-Athlete of the year, Dye was also a member of the Dean's List and National Honor Society. Upon his graduation, Dye played professionally in Germany (2003-04), Portugal (2004-05), and Costa Rica (2006). He also played for the Pennsylvania Valleydawgs of the USBL during the summer of 2003.
