Charles "Lonny" West was one of the top players of Herb Sutter’s 27 year-tenure as head coach at Wagner College scoring 1,512 career points. A graceful pivot that could shoot outside the paint, West scored a career-high 39 points, a then school-record, at St. John’s on Valentine’s Day 1956 while helping the Green & White to victory. That record of 39 points has since been broken, but Lonny did it against a true college powerhouse and in their gymnasium," said legendary coach Herb Sutter. Lonny was also a high jumper on the track and field team, leaping over six feet using the old scissor-kick method.
