A dominant basketball player at Wagner during his era, Bob Larsen (1959-1961) was voted Team MVP in consecutive seasons (1959-1960 and 1960-1961) while playing for Wagner Hall of Fame head coach Herb Sutter. The captain of the 1960-61 Seahawks, Larsen, a 6-7 forward, was a true force on both ends of the floor.

His 17.6 career scoring average was the sixth-best in school history, and he totaled 846 career points in his two-year career. A transfer from NYU, Larsen is a local product from Port Richmond who, in 1956, was the recipient of the Warren Jacques Award, given annually to Staten Island's best high school player. He averaged 15.6 points per game as a junior and upped that average to 19.9 as a senior. Larsen's career highlights include a 38 point-outing vs. Siena, a 35-point, 16-rebound outing vs. Kings Point in which he made 17 field goals and a 21-point, 21-rebound affair vs. Lycoming.

He was selected to the ECAC All-Star Small College team and spearheaded the Seahawks' climb to the 1959-60 Middle Atlantic Conference title and played a big role in handing Hofstra its only loss of the season. A multi-sport athlete, Larsen was also a standout pitcher on the Wagner baseball team.
