A two-sport standout at Wagner College, Arnold Obey scored 1,081 points over three years from 1965-1968. A two-year captain, Obey was a member of the 1967-1968 teams that compiled a then school-record 21 wins that stood for 30 years while earning All-Metropolitan honors. He also participated in track and field, running the 100 and 200 yard dashes and a leg in the 4x400 yard relay. Also a long and triple jumper, Arnold also held the school-record in the triple jump for over 30 years with a leap of 44’ 11 ½.” After graduating from Wagner College in 1968, Obey was an assistant basketball coach at Wagner College from 1969-72 and track coach for a year. An avid runner, he has completed the NYC Marathon 11 times with a personal of 3:31:54. Obey and his wife have three children. His eldest daughter Celise graduated from Wagner and capped her career as a member of the 1989 NEC Championship Team.
