An aggressive, hard-hitting safety with tremendous instincts and smarts, Andy Senese capped his outstanding football career by being named to the prestigious First-Team Eastman-Kodak All-America team and was also tabbed a First-Team Lutheran College All-American. A durable and determined athlete, Senese started all 27 games from his sophomore through senior seasons and was a member of the Seahawks' undefeated 1967 team (9-0) that led the nation in defense and won the Lambert Bowl. All told, Senese played on three Wagner teams that fashioned a combined .607 winning percentage (17-11). He led that 1967 team in interceptions with five and finished his career with 12 interceptions, a mark which still stands as sixth-best all-time in Wagner history. This fearless native of Massapequa, NY also returned punts for three seasons. Jack Minogue, who has covered Wagner football for the Staten Island Advance for more than 40 years, considers Senese one of the two best defensive backs in school history, along with fellow Hall of Famer Tony Parisi. He also starred in baseball for two seasons as both a starting pitcher and reliever before a shoulder injury sidelined him in his senior season. He is the owner of "Andrew's By The Pond," a three-star restaurant in Wading River, NY. He and his wife Claudia have three children; Keri Ann, Andrew and Amanda and two grandchildren.
