Amber (Klock) Clarke (1982-86) was a dominant distance runner during her Seahawk career, excelling in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. She was a Metro Conference (NYS Downstate) champion and placed in the top five of the ECAC/EAIAW Division I Championship in each of her four years. Clarke began her collegiate running career leading the Seahawks to an undefeated 8-0 record season. The 1985-86 cross country MVP and team captain capped her cross country reign holding Wagner College course records at five different venues – Clove Lakes Park, King’s College, New York Tech, Sunken Meadow, and Van Cortlandt Park. At the time of her graduation, Clarke was the Wagner Indoor Track & Field record-holder in eight different events – the 3 Mile (18:00), 5K (18:45), 1500 M (4:44), 3000 (10:11), 3200M (11:34) as well as the 2 Mile Relay, Distance Medley Relay and Mile Relay. In Outdoor Track & Field, she qualified for and competed in the Division I ECAC Meet in the 3000M in 1983 with a school record of 10:03. At the time of her graduation, the Gouverneur, NY native held the Wagner Outdoor records in six different events – 5K (18:11), 1500M (4:37), 3000M (10:03) as well as the 2 Mile Relay, Distance Medley Relay and Mile Relay. Clarke was inducted to Wagner College’s Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and awarded the Wagner College Russell Schwall Memorial Award. In addition, she received the prestigious Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Medal of Merit Scholar-Athlete Award.
