Hameline's interview with Somers marked the 25-year anniversary of when the two chatted weekly on the air during the latter part of Wagner's magical run to the 1987 NCAA Division III National Championship. WFAN first hit the airwaves as the nation's first 24-hour all-sports radio station in 1987 and the Seahawks' climb to the mountain top of Division III did not go unnoticed by the new medium.

Hameline, who was in his seventh season as Seahawk head coach in 1987, has gone on to win 213 games which rank seventh among active FCS coaches. Now in his 32nd season on Grymes Hill, Hameline was named the 2012 NEC Coach of the Year and is one of 20 finalists for the prestigious Eddie Robinson National Coach pf the Year Award. On September 15, 2012, the field at Wagner College Stradiumjwas named "Hameline Field" in honor of the long-time head coach and athletic director.
