Middlesex, NJ -
Wagner College right-handed pitcher Kyle Morrison (Middlesex, NJ / Immaculata) became the third current Seahawk in affiliated ball when he signed his first professional contract with the Washington Nationals over the weekend at his house in Middlesex, New Jersey.

Morrison has reported to Burlington, Vermont where he will begin his career with the short-season Vermont of the New York Penn League. The Lake Monsters will play a 76-game schedule beginning on Friday, June 19. Vermont travels to Brooklyn for three games from Monday, August 24 to Wednesday, August 26 and to Staten Island from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6.

The Garden State native was selected by the Nationals with the first pick of the 32nd round (#952) in last week's Major League Draft.

Morrison had an outstanding junior season, going 8-2 with 55 strikeouts, against just 22 walks, over a team-best 67.0 innings and a 4.16 ERA while holding batters to a .292 average. The hard-throwing right-handed pitcher ranked among the league-leaders in wins (t-2nd), opposing average (7th) and strikeouts (t-9th).

He joins 2006 graduate Andrew Bailey (Oakland A's) and 2008 graduate Joe Testa (Beloit Snappers (Low-A)) in the professional ranks.
