Hanover, NH – Wagner was handed a 69-56 defeat by Dartmouth in the consolation game of the Blue Sky Classic at Leede Arena. The Seahawks cut a 20-point second half deficit to nine with just over six minutes remaining but could get no closer in falling to 4-7 while the Big Green improve to 3-8.

Stephanie McBride (Mechanicville, NY / Catholic Central) combined for 41 points – fueled by nine triples – and 12 assists, against just six turnovers, and seven steals.
Stokes led the trio with a career-best matching 15 points, on 5-10 shooting from beyond the arc, with four steals and three assists, against no turnovers. McBride chipped in with 14 second-half points while also recording four rebounds and three steals. Reed hit for 12 points with a game-high seven assists and two steals.
In the first with the scored tied at 16-16, Dartmouth scored nine-straight points over the next 3:48 to go in front 25-16 with 7:39 remaining. Wagner would cut it to five at 32-27 with 2:30 to go in the first stanza before the Big Green pushed the lead back out to 36-29 at intermission.
Dartmouth opened the second half with a 20-7 run to extend the lead out to 20 at 56-36 with 11:29 to play. McBride then put the Green & White on her back, scoring the next 14 Wagner points , highlighted by four three pointers, while the Seahawk D limited the Big Green to three points and just one field goal over the next 5:30, cutting the deficit to 59-50 with just 5:42 remaining. The Green & White had an opportunity to further dent the lead but they could not convert a pair from the line on the next possession as Dartmouth claimed third place of the Blue Sky Classic with a 69-56 victory.
For the game, the Big Green shot a blistering 48.9 percent (23-47) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (6-14) from beyond the arc and outrebounded Wagner 44-21, leading to a 22-12 advantage in points in the paint. The Seahawks managed to say in the game thanks to pressuring Dartmouth into 22 turnovers, leading to a 15-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
The Big Green also converted 73.9 percent (17-23) from the charity stripe, led by Brittney Smith, who knocked down all 10 of her attempts, on the way to game-highs in points (24) and rebounds (11). Meghan McFee added 14 points while Darcy Rose (11 points) and Koren Schram (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers for Dartmouth.
Wagner returns home to host St. Francis (NY) on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4:00 pm in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team playing the Terriers at 7:00 pm.
NOTES: Reed was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging a team-best 19.0 ppg, on 56.0 percent (14-25) shooting, with 6.5 apg and 4.0 rpg over the two games … She has now earned All-Tourney accolades in the Green & White's last three in-season tournaments ... Wagner connected on a season-best nine three pointers (five by Stokes, four by McBride) and shot 36.0 percent (9-25) , including 42.9 percent (6-14) in the second ...
