Wagner College Ranked #1 In The U.S. News & World Reports Best College Ranking Of "Up-and-Comers" Among Northern Regional Universities

STATEN ISLAND, NY - WNBC-TV News aired a story on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, by reporter Roseanne Colletti about Wagner College's #1 ranking on U.S. News & World Report's annual list of up-and-coming regional universities:

For the second year in a row, Wagner College made the #1 spot in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges ranking of “Up-and-Comers” among Northern Regional Universities.

And, for the seventh year running, Wagner appeared among the Top 25 Northern Regional Universities, overall, on the annual Best Colleges list, which was released today. Wagner finished in a four-way tie for #25.

Men Place 8th in DMR at Penn Relays
Philadelphia, PA – The Wagner College Men's Outdoor Track and Field team earned a top-10 finish at day two of the Penn Relays on Friday. The Distance Medley Relay team, consisting of senior #James Johnston# (Middle Island, NY/Longwood), senior #Matt Villane# (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional), senior #Kevin Kearney# (Haddonfield, NJ/St. Joe's Prep), and sophomore #Thomas Iannacone# (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep), took eighth place out of 41 of the top teams in the nation.

Men’s Track and Field Has Four Season-Best Finishes at METS Championships
Leonia, NJ – The Wagner College Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Team placed eighth at the METS Outdoor Championships at Overpeck Park Sportsplex this weekend. Four Seahawks registered season-best finishes at the event - including sophomore #Zachary Spector# (Yaphank, NY/Longwood), who placed first in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:20.22.

Wagner Track and Field Recruit Mentioned in ESPN RISE Magazine
Staten Island, NY – Wagner Track and Field recruit Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph By the Sea) was mentioned in the March 2010 edition of ESPN RISE Magazine. Zaccariello will join the Seahawks next season after completing his senior year at Staten Island’s St. Joseph’s By the Sea High School.

Schultz Claims Season-Best Finish at Wagner Quad
Staten Island, NY – Junior #Derek Schultz# (Ocean Port, NJ/Shore Regional) claimed a new season-best for the Seahawks at the Wagner Quad on Wednesday. Schultz finished the 100-meter dash in 11.06, bettering the previous mark of 12.23 set on March 20th. He finished third out of 15 athletes in the event.

Iannacone Shatters 3000-Meter Record
Charlottesville, VA – Sophomore #Thomas Iannacone# (Havertown, PA/St. Joe’s Prep) led the way for the Wagner College Men’s Outdoor Track and Field at the final day of the Lou Onesty Invitational at the University of Virginia on Saturday. Iannacone broke a four-year old record in the 3000-meter run, finishing the event in 8:36.35.
